The Tech Icon for this Week is Bill Gates, a technologist, Business guru and philanthropist who was born in the year 1955, Seatle Washington.

Bill Gates grew up with a supportive family who encouraged his interest in computers at early stage.In the year 1967, he enrolled at Lakeside school where he used computer for the first time. A year after, he became programming with paul Allen in the same computer center.

He later got admission into Harvard College in the year 1973 which he dropped out to start Microsoft with his childhood friend Paul Allen. They both started the project in Albuquerque with a vision of ‘a computer on every desktop in every home’.

Microsoft company was then moved to Washington in 1979; he later launchedWindows 1.0 in 1985, and in 1995, Windows 95 was also launched.

In 2000, Bill assumed the role of Chief Software Architect; leaving the CEO position to be headed by Steve Balmer.

After working with Microsoft for 35years, Bill finally stepped down from being the chairman to serve as Technical Advisor.

According to Forbes (Sept1, 2018); Bill gate is estimated to be worth $95billion and he has promised to give everything away to charity. He presently holds the second position for the richest person in the world.

Bill Gates is married to Melinda and they both have three children. He and his wife founded a foundation called Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, established to help less privilege and provide aid to developing countries.
